Wingtek Phillips Head Csk Self-Drilling Screws - Light Section

Manufactured in a factory approved to both ISO and automotive TS16949 standards, the Ferrotek range of drill screws have been designed for optimum performance. They are made from quality hardened steel, the drilling tip is of a special design for quick starting and fast drilling. Shank ribs and thread notches on the heavy section screws reduce drive torque and remove metal swarf more effectively. A type 17 (gash point) on the timber screws allow for faster driving with less effort.

Our high performance FerrosealTM coating is an advanced finish, developed in the US for the rigors of the automotive industry. It exceeds 1000 hour salt spray resistance to ASTM B117 and 15 cycles Kesternich (acid rain) testing. The coating is a 15-20 micron three part process combining a zinc and aluminium rich system to produce a durable protective finish with self lubricating properties thus reducing heat and drive torque.

The Ferrotek Wingtek light section Self-Drilling Screws have a phillips countersunk head with a wing between the cutting head and thread. The wing is designed to ream a clearance hole in the wood to prevent the thread engaging. The screw point drills into the steel, the wings break off as they hit the steel and the threads then engage in the steel, firmly fastening the wood to the steel in one simple reliable application.

They are commonly used for timber to steel rails and purlins.
